WWII GERMAN SS MOUNTAIN TROOP PATCH
Roughly, 3" tall, 2 3/8" wide, vertically oval, black wool base with a machine embroidered Edelweiss with fourteen, irregular, silver/grey petals, a seven bulb, yellow stamen and dual silver/grey leaves and a stem all in rayon threads. The Edelweiss is encompassed by a fine, machine embroidered, silver/grey cotton, oval outer border stripe. The insignia is in overall very good, unissued condition with minimal age toning.
WWII GERMAN EM/NCO'S TROPICAL OVERSEAS CAP ARTILL
Army olive brown cotton tropical overseas cap with the red soutache reflecting artillery troops. Both the tropical eagle and the tropical cockade are correctly machine sewn to the shell of the cap and not sewn through the lining. The red cotton interior liner is marked as a size 55. Looks like only storage wear.

Second pattern, (Circa June 1936-May 1945), single piece, silver washed, die stamped aluminum, construction, right facing eagle features out-stretched wings, clutching a wreathed, canted swastika in it’s talons and is superimposed on a vertically oval, opened top, oak-leaf wreath with the eagles wings extending beyond the outer edges of the wreath. The hollow backed reverse is a mirror image of the obverse and has both inset, soldered, screw threaded attachment prongs. Has nuts and washers and is maker marked.
