 Superb - and truly complete! - 12-pieced medal-/a

Superb - and truly complete! - 12-pieced medal-/a

Superb - and truly complete! - 12-pieced medal-/award grouping, all pieces as originating from a 'Panzerjäger'-soldier who served within the: '4./Pz.Abw.E.17' (ie. within the: 'Schw.Heeres Pz.Jäger Abt. 525') - Russia (and/or Italy ie. Monte Cassino!) Superb - and truly complete! Monte Cassino!) The neat grouping - that was recently found as such at a private household in Germany and that was never before in collectors'-hands - was kept as such for decades. It comprises respectively of a medal-set: 'Winterschlacht im Osten' (or: Eastern Front medal or: 'Ost-Medaille'), being a non-marked specimen, that was produced by the company: 'Mittweidaer Metallwarenfabrik Rudolf Wächtler & Lange' based in the town of Mittweida. The medal comes stored in its reddish-brown-coloured- (and/or 'Zellstoff'-based-) pouch (that bears the makers'-designation as mentioned above). The award comes with its period ribbon and/or accompanying 'Band-/Feldspange'. (Of additional interest is the fact that the soldier marked the pouch with the places where he was stationed when awarded this medal, being: 'Charkow, Obojan and/or Kursk' - see pictures). Furthermore, there is a medal-set: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwerter' (or: war-merits'-cross second class with swords), being a non-marked specimen, that was produced by the company: 'Deschler & Sohn' based in the town of Münich. The medal comes stored in its reddish-brown-coloured- (and/or 'Zellstoff'-based-) pouch (that bears the makers'-designation as mentioned above). The award comes with its period ribbon and/or accompanying 'Band-/Feldspange'. (Of additional interest is the fact that the soldier marked this pouch with his name and added some (hard to decypher-) writing - see pictures). Furthermore, there is a medal-set: 'Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross second class), being a non-marked specimen, that was produced by the company: 'Klein u. Quenzer' based in the town of Oberstein. The medal comes stored in its light-blue-coloured- (and/or: 'Zellstoff'-based-) (that bears the makers'-designation as mentioned above). The IC comes with its period ribbon and/or accompanying 'Band-/Feldspange'. (Of additional interest is the fact that the soldier marked the pouch with the place where he was stationed when awarded this medal, being: 'Obojan/Russland' - see pictures). There is also a nice example of an: 'Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen' (or General Assault Badge ie. GAB), being an unmarked, zinc-based- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) hollow-back-version that came stored in an etui that was originally intended for storage of an: 'Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross First class). This example is in a wonderfull, uncleaned condition and comes mounted on its period pin-/pin-/catch set-up. Of additional interest is the fact that the top of the etuis'-lid is 'personalised' by the awardee and bears the writing: 'Sturmabzeichen 1941 - 3. Nahkämpfe' (see pictures). He also won the: 'Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross First class) which medal comes also with the set: it deals with an attractive and neatly maker- (ie. '65'-) marked example that was produced by the maker: ' Klein & Quenzer A.G.' based in the town of 'Oberstein ad. Nahe'. He apparently won this award for his participation within the famous battle for Monte Cassino (something that can easily be concluded by the written text in the etuis'-lid that simply reads: 'Eisernes Kreuz I. Kl. - Mt. Cassino' - see pictures). All five awards as described above are decent examples that are not damaged nor cleaned: all retain a nice and/or minimally darkened age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). Next to these medals the set contains the soldiers' 'Erkennungsmarke' (or ID-disc) being a neat zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example that shows the unit-designation: '4.Pz.Abw.E.17' (as can be seen on the pictures). This disc was clearly used ie. worn and does show some minimally 'torn-out'-holes. Last but not least does the group comprises of a (miniature-) unit-flag ie. desk-ornament. This piece - which has an approximate height of 23 cms. has a wooden-based and/or rounded foot that shows the writing: 'Schw.Heeres Pz.Jäger Abt. 525 - 26 August 1944' - has a metal-based (and hand-painted!) pink-coloured-, regimental-flag showing a detailed tiger-emblem with below the unit-designation: '2/525' being presumably the unit-symbol of this unit (as can be seen on the pictures). The unit in which this soldier served was equipped with the vehicles of the type: 'Nashorn' (armed with the famous '88'-canons!). The grouping was as stated recently found as such and was never in collectors-hands: I deem that this very attractive set merits further investigation:
